Wasn't really sure what color I was feeling this weekend,
so I just threw a few colors together and this is how it turned out.

First, I applied 2 coats of Asphalt. Then 1 coat of Hotski to Tchochke and
finished it up with 1 coat of Moonlight & Roses.

Would I do this combo again?
Yeah, probably :)

Shellac: Negligee over Hot Chili's over Hot Pop Pink on natural nails

Indoor no flash, with indirect sunlight
Negligee over Hot Chili's over Hot Pop Pink
on natural nails

Oh boy.. this is a favorite already!!

Years ago (early 1990's), my BFF had a an absolute favorite OPI
polish named Cancun Fiesta! It was a coral-pinkish tone and we both LOVED IT,
especially when we went on our tropical vacations and was sporting a nice tan!

Fast forward to today...

I came up with a close color using CND's Shellac Power Polishes!!
I did two coats of Hot Pop Pink, which was a little too bubble gum pink for
me at this time (I might try it again in a month or 2)! I then put one coat of
Hot Chili's over that, which when added to the Hot Pop Pink it turned it more
of a frosty coral pink. Since I wasn't feeling too *frosty*, I tried one coat of Negligee
over the top of that to see what it would do. It took the *frosty-ness* out of the
Hot Chili's and left it a beautiful pink coral creme!

I was so excited that I texted my BFF to tell her that I came pretty dang
close to our beloved Cancun Fiesta ~ which brought back a flood of
wonderful tropical memories!

Would I try this combo again?
Absolutely! Not only do I love the coral pink tone, but it also brings back
so many happy memories of my BFF and I <3

Shellac: Silver VIP Status over Moonlight & Roses over Rock Royalty on natural nails

No flash, under indoor lights
Silver VIP Status over Moonlight & Roses over Rock Royalty
on natural nails

I wanted to try a daring Shellac combo, but my weekend is full of prior engagements
and I really didn't want to *test* Shellac combo and having it look like crap. I just
don't have the time to redo them if I didn't like the outcome.

So, I started with the Rock Royalty and I almost stayed with that color.. but
decided I wanted to lighten it up, since it is suppose to be sunny this weekend.

I then added Moonlight & Roses, which brought it to a pretty smokey amethyst tone.. then
finished it off with Silver VIP Status (which is my favorite finishing Shellac ~ LOL).

It's hard to get a photo that shows the exact color of what I see!!
With flash on and under indoor lights

Would I try this combo again?
Yes.. I like the smoky amethyst tone, but liked it more so with the
Silver VIP Status over the top.

Shellac: Gold VIP Status over Hot Chilis, Purple Purple and Black Pool on natural nails

Gold VIP Status over Hot Chilis, Purple Purple and Black Pool
on natural nails

For this weeks nail *power* polish, I wanted to throw caution to the wind
and try something different.

I started with 1 coat of Black Pool Shellac, then did 1 coat of Purple Purple...
then did 1 coat of Hot Chili's with 1 coat of Gold VIP Status for a finishing touch.

In direct sunlight

Would I try this combo again?
Eh... it's OK, but probably wouldn't do this one again on purpose.
I do like the Gold VIP Status as well as the Silver ;)

Shellac: Silver VIP Status over Strawberry Smoothy over Hotski To Tchotchke Shellac on natural nails

Silver VIP Status over Strawberry Smoothie over Hotski To Tchotchke Shellac
on natural nails

We finally had a burst of SUNSHINE this past weekend.. so my polish lightened up :)

This is two coats of Hotski to Tchotchke (which by itself is beautiful! I had a hard time
deciding if I wanted to continue to *try* out a Shellac combo ~ LOL) with
one coat of Strawberry Smoothie ~ The color turned out to be a light robin's egg blue.
Then I added one coat of Silver VIP Status to give it an extra fun shimmer!

Trying to get the Strawberry Smoothie on evenly over the Hotski to Tchotchke
was quite the challenge. It's hard to keep the coat thin, while keep the pressure of
the paint brush light so you don't have brush stroke marks. But, I will continue
to practice to get it down correctly and with ease ;)

Photo taken with flash

And what can I say about Silver VIP Status? LOVE IT!!

Photo taken in indirect light, no flash
Would I do this combo again?
Yes... loved it, even if my Strawberry Smoothie was a bit of a challenge.
It's a gorgeous color ;)

Shellac: Silver VIP Status over Moonlight & Roses over Hot Pop Pink on natural nails

Silver VIP Status over Moonlight & Roses over Hot Pop Pink Shellac
on natural nails

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! What a
gorgeous day & weekend... lots of SUN in the Pacific NW ~ Loved it :)

Since the sun was beaming, I thought I'd go for something Spring-ish.
I haven't worn a light pink on my hands since the mid 1990's and to
tell you the truth, I think it looks kind of funny on me! I need a tan ~ hahaha

I did two coats of Hot Pop Pink (although I'm thinking that I could of gotten away with one), then did one coat of Moonlight & Roses, which softened up the hot bubble gum pink...
then finished it off with one coat of Silver VIP Status.

The top photo was taken in indirect sunlight, no flash.

The photo directly below was taken in direct sunlight, no flash.

The below photo was taken inside with a flash.

Would I do this combo again?
Yes... it was a nice, soft pink with a nice shimmer ~ very pretty :)

Shellac: Silver VIP over Asphalt on natural nails

 Silver VIP Status over Asphalt
on natural nails

Since it was April, I was really in the mood for a pale pink color, but
the rain here in the Pacific NW just hasn't stopped.
So... until we have a little more SUNSHINE, I'll have to
experiment with a few darker colors.

Back when I first tried my first Shellac application with a local
manicurist, she suggested that I try Asphalt (she said it was a nice subtle color) -
which I had absolutely no desire to wear. I tend to go more towards
the brown tones in darker colors (except pure black, which I do love),
so I just had a feeling that I wouldn't like Asphalt on me... and boy am I glad
that I listened to my instinct and went with Fedora on that one!
I really would of hated to wear that plain *gray* for more than 5 minutes.

Fast forward to today: I decided to try the Asphalt with the Silver VIP Status
for my new color combination and I *love it*. When I first applied the two
coats of Asphalt, I sincerely hated it. It was just too drab and cold for me... but
when I added the Silver VIP Status ~ I LOVED IT!!

The Silver VIP Status transformed it into a FUN, unique tone. I have
noticed that when my nails were next to something green or blue, the polish
kind of turns to that color. Not that it actually *turns* to that color, but will
pick up those hues within the polish. Plus ~ when I look at my nails in the
sunlight, the Silver VIP Status looks like there are a mix of both blue and silver tones.

Would I do this combo again?
You betchya! It is a great color that looks great on cold, dreary days ~ but
comes to life when the sunshine hits it! Very pretty :)

Shellac: Hot Chilis over Purple Purple on natural nails

Hot Chili's over Purple Purple
on natural nails

So this color is kind of fun. I did one coat of
Hot Chili's over two coats of Purple Purple Shellac.
The color turned out sort of *plum-ish* with some shimmer.

Would I do this combo again?
Yes... it's not too purpley - and it's kind of perfect for Spring/Easter :)

Shellac: Dark Lava on natural nails

Yay... I have the new Shellac colors and couldn't wait to try Dark Lava first!!

Two coats of Dark Lava Shellac
on natural nails

Wow ~ Love, love, LOVE this color.
It's a deep, dark, rich warm brown with gold and dark red shimmer, as
you can see in the 2 pictures below. The shimmer is very subtle, but oh so pretty!

Would I wear this color again?
Ummmm.. YES!! This is one of my new faves <3

Shellac: Rockstar Nails

In my previous post, I was not happy with the way the Tutti Frutti Shellac looked over Black Pool Shellac.. which I am thinking I need to shake the Tutti Frutti longer next time - or actually: I'll just get a hobby paint shaker ;)

Anyhoo ~ I couldn't stand looking at the inconsistent color on my nails any longer, so I took pink glitter and made them Rockstar nails ;)

The looked really cool, but just a tad bright!
So I added Moonlight & Roses shellac over the top, which
toned them down just a tad:

This is a great way to cover up a nail color that you are just not 100% sure you are loving ;)

PS: I am super excited to go get my new Shellac colors from the March 2012!
I'll be picking up Dark Lava (YUM ~ can't wait!), Silver Chrome, Silver & Gold VIP Status...
Cityscape and Rubble were currently sold out - but those will be added next :)

Shellac Color Combo's

What are your favorite Shellac Color Combo's? I'd love to see them and so would other Shellac Lovers! Email your photos to me, along with what was used and I'll post them for you!

Shellac: Tutti Frutti over Black Pool Shellac on natural nails

Tutti Frutti over Black Pool Shellac Polish
on natural nails

So this one, I am not too fond of!

I love the color that it turned, but the Tutti Frutti coverage really didn't do that well.
It was hard to get the Tutti Frutti evenly applied with the first coat..
so I was thinking that the second coat would even it out better - but I was wrong.
It's very blotchy and it just doesn't look good to me :/

Here is a close up of my thumb, although it's hard to really see the coverage:

Would I try this combo again?
Probably not .. or maybe not until I get a small hobby painter shaker...
then I hope the Tutti Frutti Shellac will have better coverage!

I seriously want to change the color *right now* ~ LOL

Shellac: Masquerade over natural nails

Two coats of Masquerade Shellac Polish
on natural nails

This isn't the deep blood red that I love, but the color
did turn out nice. It's more on the burgundy side of red with a slight frost.

Would I try this color again?
Absolutely! I didn't think I would like it as much as I do!

Shellac: Moonlight & Roses over Black Pool Shellac on natural nails

Moonlight & Roses over Black Pool Shellac
on natural nails

It took me a few days to really like this color combo. At first,
it just looked to *Mom-ish* to me and wasn't my style... but after a few days,
I did grow to like it and received many compliments on it.

It was kind of cool that when I wore brown clothes one day, the
polish actually looked more brown with a rosey pearl to it :)

Would I try this combo again?
Actually, YES ~ it really grew on me and I did end up liking it alot :)

Shellac: Rock Royalty over Black Pool on natural nails

Rock Royalty over Black Pool

This color is pretty true to what you see in the bottle.
I did one coat of Rock Royalty over two coats of Black Pool.
It's a deep grape-ish eggplant color.

Would I do this color again?
Yes.. I'm not 100% sure if I *loved* it, but it's a nice dark color!
